The following labs cover setting up a Free Trials for the Sophos XG Security Appliance, provisioning a virtual XG within Microsoft Azure, and exploring the Synchronized Security functionality between Sophos XG and Sophos Intercept X for Server.
Setup Your Sophos XG Free Trial
- Navigate to hatech.io/sophos
- Click the Free Trial link under Sophos XG
- Enter your Name and Email then click Continue
- Enter your information and click Submit
- The email typically arrives after a few minutes
- Check your inbox for Your Sophos Serial Number
Setup a Virtual Sophos XG Appliance in Azure
- Navigate to the Azure Dashboard > Virtual Machines
- Click Add to create a new virtual machine
- Search for Sophos and choose the blueprint for Sophos XG Firewall
- Click Create
- Enter a VM Name like “sophosXG”
- Enter a password (this will be the password to login to Sophos XG)
- Create a new Resource Group with a name like “sophos-xg”
- Click OK
- Select the Configure Subnets tab and click OK to accept the defaults
- Enter a globally unique Domain Name like “sophos-xg-hatech”
- Select the Storage Account tab, then choose an existing account or create a new one
- Click OK
- Wait for validation to complete and click OK
- Click Create to launch your Sophos XG instance
Configure the Virtual Sophos XG in Azure
- Open the Overview tab for your Sophos XG virtual machine
- Copy the DNS Name of your virtual machine
- In your browser, navigate to:
- https://
:4444
- https://
- Click Advanced and Accept to ignore the self-signed SSL certificate warning
- Sign in using the default username “admin” and the password you set above
- Select the option to “Start a Trial” and Continue
- Pass the robot detection test and click Continue
- Click to Confirm Registration
- Click to Initiate License Synchronization
- On the Licensed Features screen, click Continue
